ANTHONY J. DAY NAMED NEW SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

Day_Supt_web.jpgAt its voting meeting on June 15, 2010, the Sweet Home Central School District Board of Education appointed Anthony J. Day to the position of Superintendent of Schools effective July 1, 2010. Day will replace Geoffrey M. Hicks who leaves Sweet Home to become Superintendent of Schools of Arlington School District in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Mr. Day has spent the last eight years working as Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for Sweet Home. Prior to that, Day was the principal of Edward Town Middle School in the Niagara Wheatfield School District from 1998 to 2002. He was also an assistant principal at Sweet Home High School from 1996 to 1998 and has taught social studies in Niagara Wheatfield High School from 1988 to 1996 and Iroquois Central High School from 1984 to 1985.

Day holds a bachelor’s degree in history and secondary education from SUNY Buffalo and master’s degree in educational foundations from Niagara University, where he completed his administration certification in 1996.

District Residents Approve 2010-11 Budget
Residents of the Sweet Home Central School District approved the 2010-11 district budget, Tuesday, May 18, by a vote of 884 “yes” to 506 “no”. Of the 1405 voters, 63% voted to pass the budget.
